Episode 8 – Jane’s Journey to Healing



Jane Alexander, mental health coordinator for Mental Health Connect of Missouri shares her story of living with bipolar disorder. Her journey through mental illness began in 2006 when she received a steroid injection for back pain. The unexpected happened and she found herself in a psychiatric hospital. Additionally, Jane shares her impressions of generational mental illness. We hope you’ll learn from and be inspired by Jane’s story.


Episode 7 – A Pastor’s Story of Hope



Caroline Cooper, Founder & Executive Director of In God’s Corner Ministry, had the privilege of interviewing her pastor in this special podcast for Suicide Prevention Awareness Week. Blake McKinney’s story is inspiring and brings hope to anyone dealing with suicide ideology and mental illness. Pastor Blake also shares how the church can better address mental health in the congregation. Mental Health and Faith: A Closer Look

In less than a month, we will be rolling out our interview-format podcast. Please join us! On February 19, we will publish our first three episodes.

  1. Episode 1: Mental Health and Faith – interview with Terri Cooley Bennett, LCSW, LSCSW. She is an outreach supervisor for the homeless program at Swope Behavioral Health. Terri previously owned a Christian counseling business.
  2. Episode 2: Mental Health America – interview with Sue Lewis, CEO of Mental Health America of the Heartland (MHAH). She has over 20 years’ experience in serving people in need of mental health support.
  3. Episode 3: A Pastor’s Perspective – interview with Pastor Rick Friesen. He shares his perception of mental health in the church.

Future podcasts will feature conversations with the following: a past seminary president and Biblical counselor; the manager over an employment services group devoted to finding jobs for people with disabilities; a mental health consumer who shares what it’s like to live with a mental illness.
